Haryana
Haryana is one of smallest and agriculturally richest states of India, The rich , fertile Modern farmlands and the joyous rustic lifestyle give the state a distinctive flavor. Yet, much if India’s ancient and medieval history was shaped here. It was here that legendary kurukshetra war of Mahabharata was fought nearly 3000 years ago. The Bhagvad Gita, Lord Krishna’s sermon to Arjun on the eve of the war, is said to have been delivered here. The sides of many India empires, it was from Haryana that king Harsha Vardhna ruled his kingdom and many historical battle had been fought here.
Tourist Places in Haryana
Surajkund- A vast amphitheatre shaped 900 years old pool and sun temple. Annual national crafts mela is held here and a lovely picnic spot. Airport: Delhi.
Badkhal, Sohna, Damdama – Natural lakes and picnic spots. Airport: Delhi.
Kurukshetra- epic battle of Mahabharata was fought here. A pilgrimage centre. Kumbh mela is held here every 12 years. Airport: Delhi.
Panipat- site of many historical battles won and lost. Airport: Delhi.
Pinjore Gardens – the oldest surviving Mughal Garden with seven terraced gardens and old pleasure palaces.
