Bangalore, capital of Karnataka State, India, is one of Asia’s fastest-growing cities and most destinations in South India. The Bangalore City is located at an altitude of 920 meters above sea level on the Deccan Plateau in the south-eastern part of Karnataka. Bangalore is the principal administrative, cultural, commercial and industrial center of the state of Karnataka. Spread over an area of 2190 square kilometers, Bangalore enjoys a pleasant and equable climate throughout the year.

The city is home to some of the most well-recognized colleges and research institutions in India. Numerous public sector heavy industries, software companies, aerospace, telecommunications, and defence organisations are located in the city. The Electronic City in Bommasandra and the Software Technology Park, called the IT Park, which has come up on the outskirts of the city, has earned the reputation of being the “Silicon” Valley of India. Because of various multinational and Indian companies are represented here, caused ranked among the 10 fastest growing cities in the world.

If we look into little background, Bangalore was founded by Kempe Gowda in the early 16th century. Two centuries later, it became an important fortress city under rulers Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan. The ruins of those periods can still be seen on the Bellary Road, at Lal Bagh, Ulsoor and Gavi Gangadhareswar Temple. Bangalore is generally regarded as a place that most visitors say not chill out in that it has nothing for people interested in history, look at how. Places to visit in Bangalore:

Innovative Film City: is an amusement park located in Bidadi, about 50 Kilometers outside Bangalore. It is one of the new theme parks that arrived in Bangalore in 2008. Don’t be fooled by the name though.

Yelagiri Hills: This less popular hill-station is located near Krishnagiri town on the Bangalore-Chennai national highway. It is about 150 kilometers from Bangalore and around 250 Kilometers from Chennai.

Hogenakkal Falls: Hogenakkal literally means smoking rocks (in Tamil). The falls comprise of a numer of smaller waterfalls that make up the beauty of the place. Hogenakkal is located in Dharmapuri district and is about 120 Kms from Bangalore. Perfect for a day-trip, you can drive to here over a Saturday and get a day’s off to unwind.

Talakadu and Shivanasamudram: Shivanasamudram (sometimes called Shimsha falls) is home to a couple of lovely waterfalls while neighboring Talakadu preserves history in the form of submerged temples. Located about 150 Kms from Bangalore and about 70 Kms from Mysore, Shivanasamudram and Talakadu are both popular picnic and weekend spots.

Bull temple of Bangalore: is dedicated to Nandi Bull, the vahana (vehicle) of Lord Shiva. Situated in Basavanagudi, this temple has been built in the Dravidian style of architecture. Kempe Gowda, the founder of Bangalore, got the Bull temple built during his time. This temple counts amongst the oldest temples of the city and draws devotees from all over the country. Bangalore Palace is situated in the Palace Gardens, at the heart of the Bangalore city of India. Built in the year 1887 by Wodeyar dynasty, it is adorned with magnificent woodcarvings and Tudor-style architecture on the inside. Infact, the palace is quite similar to the medieval castles that were built in Normandy and England.

Lumbini Gardens in the environs of Bangalore are a refreshing change from the hustle and bustle of the busy metropolis. These beautifully landscaped gardens and its lake front are enjoyed by visitors and locals alike.

Bannerghatta National Park: Located 22 kms south of Bangalore, Bannerghatta National Park is a wild life sanctuary that spreads over 525 sq. kms surrounded by the scenic hills and lushy green fauna. The Park is ideal for those interested in natural history and wildlife adventure.

Wonder La, Bangalore: This amusement park is located outside the city and is an ideal place for a day trip with family and friends. There are different kinds of rides are available in Wonder La, which have been categorised as Dry Rides and Wet Rides. Dry rides are scary and would even take you upside down, to & fro and in zig-zag style.

Dodda Ganesha Temple: The monolithic Ganapathi is about 18 ft in height and 16 ft in width. The God is also known as Shakthi Ganapathi or Satya Ganapathi. People from all walks of life come here to seek blessings. What make this idol more attractive to the devotees are the different types of decorations that are done during the week. The most famous is the butter coating of the idol. More than 100 kgs of butter is used for this purpose.
